It's easy to think the words
And it's easy to speak them But it's hard to become them And hard to follow through Remember to be patient Remember to be kind It's worth it if you stick to it Don't give up Give it time. (For what it's worth I hope you make it.) I feel like if I titled this poem, it would be called 'Lost in Translation' -Atlas

This is how you save the world.
There is no mask Or cheering crowd And you cannot fly. There is no final stand, No neat and tidy ending. The villains are real And they walk among us Talk with us Speak for us And sometimes, they are us. This is how you save the world. By making sacrifices Big and small And hoping it's worth it. This is how you save the world. By second guessing. By caring so much it hurts. And sometimes It's enough. This is how you save the world. Eh. Too repetitive? I'll work on it. -Atlas You fill me
With so much love I can barely breathe And being with you Brings me peace. Plot twist: this isn't a romantic poem. -Atlas Hope leads to hurt.
But sometimes It makes you brave, too I am the final breath Of a thousand stars And the love Of a thousand beings Who lived and died Before I was even conceived. And though perhaps there is no grand destiny Laid out before me I hope that they're watching And that they're proud of me (regarding the second poem) I worked hard for this mediocrity, dang it! -Atlas And as much as it hurts
Not everyone Who says that you're special Is telling the truth You are a wonderful and unique person and your feelings are valid, but they are no realer or more important than anyone else's. It's scary to realize that, but at least you're not alone. -Atlas How lucky am I
that in all the stars and all the worlds and all the people in them I got to meet you. And if I had to choose again from all of time and all of space and everyone that's ever lived I'd choose you again. And though I know you have to go I'll miss our fights our talks and rants and I'm so grateful for it all every bit of it. You are my first and best friend. Thank you for being my sister. My sister's leaving for college soon. -Atlas wherever you are
i hope you're happy often and that your sorrows are fleeting. i hope that the world surrounds you with people who love you. i hope that your future is bright and filled with opportunities and most of all i wish you peace. If I could have one wish, it would probably be something like this. (I feel like it's pretty hard to go wrong with wishing someone a long, happy life and few regrets.) Not sure who I'd wish it for, though. -Atlas And perhaps I'd be a cricket
Because I am small and one of many Hidden in plain sight And yet I will sing Until the end. I remember once we got a whole bunch of weeds cleared out of our front yard, and when we went outside afterwards, we were really surprised by how quiet it was. There were no crickets, no cicadas--everything was gone. "Did the crickets sing on the way to the landfill?" My mom wrote that as the first line of a poem, though I can't remember the rest. It's always stuck with me. (Because they probably did.) -Atlas At the end of the day
I know you're doing the best you can And I am so So Proud of you Everything you made Was so full of love. G'night, guys! Hope you have a nice day tomorrow -Atlas Breath,
Caught on a window Fading slowly. The world passes by Oblivious Just another day Another life. Does this even make sense? Shmeh. -Atlas |
